1979 Levi’s USA 517 Tag 32x32 Actual 31x31 (Altered)

$235.00
Sold Out

The 517: the OG bootcut or “saddleman”.

Fitted through the top to the knee and then a little baby flare to the bottom - just enough room for boots.

*Originally men’s jeans, now & forevermore unisex*

**A favorite of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy and Jenna Fucking Lyons and men’s fashion guru, Aaron Levine.**

MATERIAL: 100% Cotton

FLY: zip

WASH: these are an absolutely stunning, dark, indigo wash, with great fades.

NOTE: At some point, someone altered them by taking a tiny bit of material up on the left inner thigh, all the way down to the hem. I honestly did not even notice this until I just started measuring them today. I didn’t notice it when I bought them. And when you have them on, it’s really not that noticeable. If it wasn’t for that, these would be sold for much more, because they are quite old and have an amazing wash. But wanted to be fully transparent in regards to the Alteration. *When you stack the legs on top of each other, there really is no significant difference in width. So again, I don’t understand why the alteration was done to begin with.

EXPECTATIONS OF VINTAGE JEANS

Keep in mind, vintage jeans are not new jeans. Every pair is at least 20 years old, most are older. This means they’ve been worn and likely have signs of wear - i.e. thinning areas, loose threads, signs of previous repair work, discolorations, faint (or not so faint stains), organic distressing, wear at the rivets, wear at the button holes. I do my best to describe these areas/signs of wear&tear, so please - before you buy - understand that you may receive your jeans and there will be signs of aging. Most buy vintage jeans wanting this, but if you want pristine new looking jeans, vintage likely isn’t for you. And that’s A-OK! Also note, the word “vintage” is not synonymous with super worn & faded. Vintage means over 20 years old. An item can be both vintage and still be new or like new condition.
