1960s Levi’s USA “Big E” 646 Tag n/a Actual 32x32 READ
The 646 (flares with a mid to high rise) & 684/784 (bells with a lower rise, so you’ll likely need to size up in 684) -> Altered to have more of a leg of a 517.
*unisex*
Carolyn Bessette Kennedy wore 646 in the 90s (almost vintage even then). These were also seen everywhere in the “summer of love”, 1969 — into the early 70s. On Jimi Hendrix on stage at Woodstock, as well as half the concert goers that weekend. Much harder to find — due their age — so price reflects.
MATERIAL: 100% Cotton
FLY: talon zipper
WASH: beautiful sun faded medium indigo blue wash with awesome organic sun fades, distress and repairs. Most of the distressing has been patched from the inside, or machine darned, but there are a few open, distressed areas as shown in the photos. Biggest thing to take away, is that the lower legs were altered to make them less flared and more like a 517 boot cut. You can see in the photos, the disruption of the original outer and inner seam on the lower legs. So if you like a 517, these are perfect for you! With that rare “big E” orange tab.
(estimated by care tags, not a guarantee)
FLAT LAY MEASUREMENTS (in inches):
WAIST, RISE, INSEAM: all shown on white slip of feature listing photo AND in the respective photos.
HIP: measurements in photos. *Please don’t forget to measure these two measurements, shown in the photos, as this will ensure they fit you in the hips and bum area. Also, keep in mind that 646/684 tend to run a little slimmer in those areas.*
PLEASE REFER TO FIT GUIDE FOR MORE HELP. (Link in drop down menu)
ACTUAL SIZE/FIT (per flat lay waist measurement doubled): 32
Or baggy: 30
• This is an approximation based solely on the flat lay measurements per my fit guide, not a guarantee to fit.*
All sales are final. No returns or exchanges. So please ask all questions prior to purchasing.
House Rules: You’re always welcome to resell your piece — but please note that Jean Genie Vintage branding, imagery, and copy are not included in that sale. ♡ This means please do not use any of my photos, logo, or copy/paste listing description verbiage on any secondhand sites, as this is all JGV intellectual property. Thank you!
EXPECTATIONS OF VINTAGE JEANS
Keep in mind, vintage jeans are not new jeans. Every pair is at least 20 years old, most are older. This means they’ve been worn and likely have signs of wear - i.e. thinning areas, loose threads, signs of previous repair work, discolorations, faint (or not so faint stains), organic distressing, wear at the rivets, wear at the button holes. I do my best to describe these areas/signs of wear&tear, so please - before you buy - understand that you may receive your jeans and there will be signs of aging. Most buy vintage jeans wanting this, but if you want pristine new looking jeans, vintage likely isn’t for you. And that’s A-OK! Also note, the word “vintage” is not synonymous with super worn & faded. Vintage means over 20 years old. An item can be both vintage and still be new or like new condition.
